So I went back to work today. We’re about to have a thunder storm and I’ve been away from the golf course for four days now – I wonder how August will pan out after a hectic July on course.
The temperatures were not the only things that were at record numbers this July. After 17 days of 30 degrees in Finland I managed to play 18 days in a row – something I don’t think I even came close to in my youth.
It’s the end of May and it seems like I’ve played a record number of rounds, for me, in Finland for the year. Many, many rounds more than the previous years. Comparing the stats is interesting and depressing at the same time.
The golf season opened early in Finland this year – although availability has been patchy. We started on the 8th of March, then frozen off for a couple of weeks then back again.
2024 was an incredible year for golf. My game throughout was not great but there were a few highlights and the pro game had many stories that will etched into the history books.
The 2024 golf year is almost over in Finland. The first snows of the season fell this weekend and while I managed to get out yesterday and have bookings for next weekend still I am resigned to not playing outside in Finland in 2024.
